NBC is working on a comedy series based on a Tom Hanks movie from the 1980s. Deadline.com reports that the new project is based on the 1986 film "The Money Pit," which starred Hanks and Shelley Long.
Hanks and Long played a couple who buy a mansion that’s falling apart, or the proverbial "money pit." Amblin Entertainment, which produced the movie with Universal Pictures, is producing the new project with Universal Television.
Amblin TV’s Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank will executive produce with Justin Spitzer of "The Office," who is writing the adaptation.
