ABC Developing Thriller Focused on Female Tabloid Reporter

Nov 1, 2013  •  Post A Comment

ABC is developing a crime thriller based on a series of best-selling novels about a tabloid reporter. Deadline.com reports that the project focuses on the character Annika Bengtzon, who’s at the center of a series of Swedish novels by Liza Marklund.

The books also served as the inspiration for the popular Swedish series "Annika Bengtzon: Crime Reporter," the story notes.

The project, from Universal TV, is about a no-nonsense reporter who tries to get to the bottom of a series of crimes while also dealing with her family and superiors. Writer Charles Randolph of "Love and Other Drugs" will executive produce with TBD’s Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan and Yellow Bird’s Jenny Gilbertsson and Berna Levin.

  1. Do yourself a favor and just stick with the original. Hopefully, this will get MHz WorldView to run the series again, which is also available on DVD and possibly HULU (I know current MHz French crime series “Braquo” – I think I got that right – is currently running series 2 on HULU with series 1 running on MHz).
