NBCUniversal has made a number of key changes among the top leadership in its cable entertainment division, Nellie Andreeva reports on Deadline.com.
"Veteran USA Network executive, EVP original scripted development Bill McGoldrick, is moving to sibling Syfy to head that network’s development as EVP, Original Content," Andreeva reports. "He replaces Mark Stern, who will segue to producing, serving as an executive producer on a 2014 Syfy series. Another USA veteran, Jackie de Crinis, will succeed McGoldrick in an expanded role as EVP of Original Programming for USA Network."
McGoldrick will report to Dave Howe, president of Syfy, while de Crinis will report to Chris McCumber, president of USA.
Said NBCU Cable Entertainment Chairman Bonnie Hammer: “Bill and Jackie both have uncanny instincts about quality content that resonates with audiences, and are incredibly brand savvy. With this move, Bill expands his development responsibilities while he gets to satisfy a not-so-secret passion for the genre. Jackie, who’s done a fantastic job at USA, gets to take on a well-deserved leadership role. It’s a win/win for Syfy, USA and the entire Cable Entertainment Group.”
Andreeva adds: "In his new position, McGoldrick will be responsible for the development and production of Syfy’s original programming, including scripted and unscripted series, as well as oversight of international co-productions. In partnership with Universal Pictures, he is also responsible for development of Syfy Films theatrical development."
McGoldrick began at USA back in 1998, starting as an executive assistant before moving to an exec position in series development, Andreeva notes. His work in that capacity included "Monk" and "The Invisible Man."
"After a four-year stint at Spike TV as VP and SVP original series development, McGoldrick returned to USA in 2009 as SVP, original scripted programming and was upped to EVP in April 2012," Andreeva notes.
She adds: "De Crinis served as USA’s EVP scripted series until 2009 when she relocated with her family to Hawaii, with McGoldrick succeeding her in the scripted development post. She remained a senior USA programming executive, overseeing current series from Hawaii. For her newly created role, in which de Crinis will be responsible for all production and development of original programming for USA, including scripted and unscripted series, she is moving back to Los Angeles."
Oh great. Fire everyone when the ship is already sinking. MSNBC is on fire whereas the once great, CNBC is suffering. Boy, I wish that CNBC would go back to their evening talk format ala Tom Snyder and Charles Grodin and Bob Berkowitz with his sex show in the 1990’s.

Although the talent that he poached from ABC (Jake Tapper, Bill Weir and Chris Coumo) are talented “news” stars in their own rights, they seem to bring nothing in terms of ratings and interest to their new network.
