There’s a new top gun on Twitter, who just knocked pop star Justin Bieber off his perch. CNN reports that Bieber has been displaced by another pop star, Katy Perry, as the most popular person on Twitter.

Perry, 29, reportedly had 46,529,319 followers on the social networking site as of this morning, slipping past Bieber’s total of 46,507,829.

"While the public’s opinion on Bieber is typically divided, the 19-year-old singer has reigned supreme on Twitter after passing Lady Gaga as the most popular on the site in January," the story reports. "The Mother Monster now has the third most followed account with 40,400,759 followers, according to TwitterCounter.com, putting her ahead of President Barack Obama.

Bieber has been performing in Brazil, where he reportedly fled the stage over the weekend after being hit by a bottle thrown from the crowd in Sao Paulo. He was due to release a new song, "Bad Day," today, the report notes.
