Reboot of 1980s Horror Anthology Coming to TV

A series that frightened television viewers in the 1980s is in the works for a broadcast remake. EW.com’s Inside TV reports that the CW is working on a reboot of George A. Romero’s horror anthology "Tales From the Darkside."

The writer will be Joe Hill, the acclaimed horror novelist and the son of Stephen King. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, executive producers of Fox’s "Sleepy Hollow," are also working on the project.

"That’s about all we know at this early stage. Except for, perhaps, that it will likely feature plenty of ridiculously hot young characters being menaced by supernatural forces, given that the project is at the CW (a fashion magazine assistant with a haunted Twitter account is surely a first-season episode). The official logline is that the series is a ‘reinvention of the horror/fantasy/thriller anthology series,’" the piece adds.

The original series ran in syndication and was on TV for four seasons, from 1984-1988, following a pilot that aired in 1983. The project reportedly grew out of the success of the 1982 feature "Creepshow," which was also a horror anthology, written by Stephen King and directed by Romero.
