MSNBC executives aren’t all that eager to have Alec Baldwin return to the cable news network, the New York Post’s Page Six reports.
As previously reported, Baldwin’s "Up Late" show is on a two-week suspension from MSNBC after Baldwin apparently made an anti-gay remark to a photographer.
Executives are said to be cold to his return because of Baldwin’s allegedly “angry behavior,” the story says. The actor has reportedly shouted at the staff and complained that the air at 30 Rock is too dry, the story says.
His ratings haven’t been stellar, either. His last show hit a low in the 25-54 demographic, pulling in only 101,000 viewers in the key news demo, the story says.
A representative for MSNBC said: “Every episode of ‘Up Late’ has beaten CNN and increased MSNBC’s audience in the time slot. Alec has been dedicated to developing ‘Up Late’ and spent hours each week in production. He’s got great ideas and has a collaborative relationship with the staff.”
Who could have predicted his wild behavior? These same executives! Past behavior is a pretty strong predictor of future behavior.
If you want ratings, fix the humidity and bring him back. He beat CNN. Not many hours where you can say that. If you are smart you will have him interview the reporter that he made the off-color remark to on the first episode back. do that and you might even beat Fox in the ratings that night.
