Sarah Palin Gets Apology From Cable News Host Over ‘Sh-t in Her Mouth’ Insinuation

A cable news host apologized to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin after he implied in a commentary that she deserved to have someone "shit" in her mouth, TheWrap.com reports.

MSNBC host Martin Bashir admitted he went overboard when he made the comment.

"I wanted to take this opportunity to say sorry to Mrs. Palin and to also offer an ‘unreserved apology’ to her friends and family, her supporters, our viewers and anyone who may have heard what I said,” Bashir said.

He made the comment in response to Palin’s remark that U.S. debt to China would lead to a "slavery" situation.

Palin, in a Nov. 9 speech, said, “Our free stuff today is being paid for by taking money from our children and borrowing from China. When that note comes due and — this isn’t racist, so try it, try it anyway, this isn’t racist — but it’s going to be like slavery when that note is due. Right? We are going to be beholden to a foreign master.”

On his show Friday, he introduced Palin as "America’s resident dunce, scraping the barrel of her long-deceased mind.” Criticizing Palin for invoking slavery, Bashir read from a diary kept by a plantation owner, who recorded that he had a slave "shit" in another slave’s mouth as a punishment.

Bashir added: "When Mrs. Palin invokes slavery, she doesn’t just prove her rank ignorance. She confirms that if anyone truly qualified for a dose of discipline … she would be the outstanding candidate."

Here’s a clip of Bashir’s apology, followed by Friday’s "Clear the Air" segment that got him in trouble:

  1. I think the caption should be An Undeserved Apology. After all, every time she opens her mouth, effluvia flows…

  2. Some people on the Left have no shame, even in the face of the most egregious example of inhumanity. I find it ironic that these same outliers also claim to be the most socially responsible.

  3. Scott, you and Bashir are what’s wrong with society. I have many liberal friends who I disagree with politically but I would NEVER, EVER, treat someone like that…even if they weren’t a friend of mine. This just speaks to your lack of intelligence (I don’t believe I’ve ever heard of you being a Governor of a state) and of the utter lack of talent and intelligence of someone like Bashir. Obviously, nobody watches his show. He’s desperately trying to stir things up in the hope someone, ANYONE would flip the channel to his show. It’s NOT working…

  4. I would say Bashir deserves an award — but first, let’s correct his comment — we certainly don’t want to add to the overwhelming bulls**t coming out of Palin’s mouth. The woman is an unadulterated idiot who spews whatever her warped brain and lack of intelligence and facts can conjure up — it would be laughable, but for the poor souls who hang on her every word. Learn to use Google folks — and get the facts before you blindly follow a fool!

  5. I pity people that have to resort to name calling of another person when they don’t agree with that persons ideas. If actual facts don’t validate their ideas, they have to call people things like a “dunce” and say they have a “long-deceased mind”. He is to be pitied.
I’m guessing that Mr. Bashir has never borrowed money that he couldn’t repay. If he had, he would understand what Ms. Palin meant.
I do not care for Palin but, unfortunately, her statement may become factual. If we keep borrowing money from foreign countries, we will eventually reach the point where we will be like slaves to them. Try borrowing from a loan shark or even a bank. If they feel you can’t, or won’t, repay them, they will act like they “own” you. Whether it’s a loan shark, a bank, or another country to which you owe money, you better be able to pay the money back or you will be in deep trouble. They will “own” you and you will be their “slave”.
Most of us alive today won’t live long enough to pay the consequences for our actions but our kids and/or our grandkids will suffer for our stupidity. There isn’t any “free lunch”. It might be free for you, but someone is paying for that lunch.
So love Palin or hate her, evaluate her comments with unbiased thinking. Don’t show your lack of intelligence by resorting to name calling, instead of discussing the merits of someone’s comments.
