One of the contestants from the landmark first season of CBS’s long-running reality franchise "Survivor" has died. TheWrap.com, citing an obituary published in the Kansas City Star, reports that B.B. Andersen died Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 77.

Andersen was "one of the original cast members who launched ‘Survivor’ back in 2000,” executive producer Jeff Probst said in a statement. “He was a powerful presence on the show and that zest for epic adventure was at the heart of everything he did.”

The obituary notes that Andersen died after a battle with brain cancer. "A world traveler and avid sportsman, B.B. was a lover of fine cigars, fine wine, close friends, and good political debate," the notice reads.
