After a wildly successful launch for "House of Cards" on Netflix, David Fincher is working with HBO on his next project. Deadline.com reports that the project is an American adaptation of the British series “Utopia."
Fincher is slated to direct the HBO version of the thriller, which will be written by “Gone Girl” writer Gillian Flynn, the story says. Fincher also directed the film version of Flynn’s best-selling novel, which is slated to be released later this year.
“Utopia” is about fans of a graphic novel who are wrapped up in their own real-life thriller after finding out that the author wrote a sequel. The fans get locked in a conspiracy as they find out that it’s not merely a book, the story says.
Flynn’s work on the project is part of an overall deal she has with HBO.
“Utopia” aired in the U.K. on Channel 4 in 2013 and has been picked up for a second season.
