Citing Nielsen "live plus same day" results for Tuesday’s late-night programming, NBC announced that the second night of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” again delivered strong numbers.

Starting at midnight following late local news and NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics from Sochi, Russia, "Tuesday’s ‘Tonight’ averaged a 2.3 rating in adults 18-49 and 7.366 million viewers overall, according to fast-official ‘live plus same day’ ratings from Nielsen Media Research," the network announced. "That made it ‘Tonight’s’ biggest Tuesday in total viewers in 13 years (since Dec. 26, 2000, 7.448 million viewers)."

The broadcast was up 84% from the season-to-date average for "The Tonight Show" in metered markets — 7.366 million vs. 4.011 million, "live plus same day," through Feb. 9.

NBC also noted: "Despite its later start time, the Feb. 18 ‘Tonight Show’ outperformed the combined results for CBS’s ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ (2.694 million) and ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ (2.147 million) by 52% (7.366 million vs. a combined 4.841 million)."

In the coveted 18-49 demo, “Tonight’s” 2.3 average rating Tuesday night — the show’s biggest demo number for a Tuesday since Dec. 13, 2005 (2.5) — topped the combined numbers for “Late Show” (0.6) and “Kimmel” (0.5) by 109% (2.3 vs. a combined 1.1).

Monday’s premiere episode of the Fallon era hit a ratings home run, including a 3.8 average in viewers 18-49 and 11.314 million total viewers, based on Nielsen "live plus same day" numbers, as we reported previously.
