ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” scored a late-night coup, landing an event that has been associated with CBS’s "Late Show with David Letterman" for years.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that "Kimmel" will reveal the 50th anniversary cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, breaking a six-year hold on the annual unveiling of the cover by "Late Show."

“For what it’s worth … ‘Late Show’ is not filming any new episodes this week,” the story notes.

Kimmel will reveal the cover on his Thursday episode, with the cover model appearing on the program Feb. 17. The swimsuit issue will go on sale Feb. 18. Last year’s model was Kate Upton, while previous cover models on the magazine’s annual issue have included Tyra Banks and Cheryl Tiegs.

The story adds: “The news comes at a pivotal time for the changing late-night landscape, which has increasingly become more competitive with Kimmel, David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert among the heavyweights. Jimmy Fallon’s impending ‘Tonight Show’ debut takes place Feb. 17, while Seth Meyers’ ‘Late Night’ launches the following week.”
