On the Heels of Alec Baldwin’s Vow to Quit Public Life — He’s Coming Soon to a Popular TV Drama

Alec Baldwin may say he’s through being a celebrity, but he’s not dropping off the popular culture radar just yet. Days after the actor wrote a column about his vow to drop out of public life, EW.com’s Inside TV reports that Baldwin has a guest appearance coming up on NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU."

Baldwin will play Jimmy MacArthur, a newspaper columnist who questions the motives of the SVU squad, the story notes. The character is said to come up against Sgt. Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay, who will be making her directorial debut with the episode.

Katie Couric is also set to appear in the episode, playing a talk show host who talks with MacArthur about the case.

The episode will air March 19 at 9 p.m.

As we reported earlier this week, Baldwin wrote a long piece in New York Magazine in which he said, among other things: "I loathe and despise the media in a way I did not think possible. This is the last time I’m going to talk about my personal life in an American publication ever again."
