An executive producer of HBO’s “True Blood” is working on a civil rights drama project at AMC. Variety reports that Alexander Woo of “True Blood” will write the script and executive produce with Aaron Kaplan.

The project, called “Bombingham,” revolves around a 1963 murder in Birmingham, Ala., with the time frame shifting between the present and past, the story says. The murder is discovered 50 years later, which disrupts the city’s peace between whites and African Americans, the piece reports.

“The title refers to the city’s nickname in the black community, which suffered a slew of racially motivated bombings and other violence from the late 1940s through the 1960s,” the story notes.
