BBC America has ordered its first original scripted comedy series. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the cable channel placed a seven-episode order for “Almost Royal."
The show is about George and Poppy Carlton, who are the heirs to a country estate in Norfolk, England. They’re distant descendants of the British royal family, and have agreed to have a camera follow them as they take a road trip to the USA, the story reports.
The show will debut after the season two finale of “Orphan Black,” the report notes. It joins a slate of scripted dramas at BBC America, including “Doctor Who” and “Ripper Street.”
