Former ‘GMA’ Anchor Picked to Head USC Journalism School

A television veteran who was a co-anchor on ABC’s "Good Morning America Sunday" as well as a correspondent for NBC’s "Today" show is the new director of USC’s School of Journalism. Deadline.com reports that Willow Bay will take over the position.

While at ABC, Bay, a former model, was also a correspondent for "World News Saturday" and "World News Sunday." She spent most of the 1990s as co-host of "NBA Inside Stuff" with Ahmad Rashad, and has also been an anchor on CNN, among other TV jobs.

The report quotes Ernest Wilson III, dean of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, saying: “The breadth of Willow Bay’s experiences, skills and talents is extraordinary. Her leadership will help our innovative school aggressively continue our path of creating and defining the digital future."

The report notes that Bay is married to Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company.

The story adds: "Currently an editor at The Huffington Post and a special correspondent for Bloomberg News, Bay will take over her duties at USC in July."

Said Bay: “I look forward to leading the school as it educates and inspires the next generation of journalists and public relations professionals for the future and contributes groundbreaking academic research into these fields."
