In what our friend Nellie Andreeva, writing on Deadline.com, calls a “gutsy” move, Fox has given early renewals to four shows. The shows are the comedies “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “New Girl” and “The Mindy Project” and the drama series “The Following.”
The programs join three other Fox shows that had already been renewed for the 2014-15 season: dramas “Sleepy Hollow,” “Bones” and “Glee.”
“That is a lot of programming already locked in for next season though Fox has extra holes to fill following the cancellation of ‘The X Factor,’” Andreeva writes. “Networks are not required to make any renewal decisions until May, and most wait to see their pilots before making decisions.”
Fox, though, said earlier this year that it would be breaking away from the pilot process, which means the network might now be working under a different renewal schedule than other networks, Andreeva notes.
