Pop star Justin Bieber’s deposition in a lawsuit about his bodyguard allegedly beating up a photographer was obtained by TMZ, which released clips of the singer comparing the questioning to being grilled by Katie Couric or “60 Minutes.”

Bieber is by turns arrogant, lovesick, contentious and disrespectful, TMZ notes. Asked whether Usher discovered him, Bieber says he was discovered on YouTube. “The best part … he clearly was trying to say he himself was instrumental in his success, but instead he says, ‘I was detrimental to my own career,’” the story notes.

Reaction to the videotape has ranged from “simple smirks to outrage for his apparent smug demeanor,” People magazine reports.
