A provocative British TV show called “Sex Box” will be adapted for U.S. television. Deadline.com reports that the cable channel WE tv has ordered an adaptation of the reality show, in which real couples whose relationships are struggling enter a soundproof box, have sex, and then leave the box to talk to a panel of experts.

The project, from Relativity TV, is one of the first big orders for Marc Juris, who became president of WE tv last year, the story notes. The producers of the project say the concept “fosters conversations about intimacy that are completely filterless and emotionally honest.”

“‘Sex Box’ is an intriguing and original concept from a top production partner and we’re very excited about its potential, which has already been clearly demonstrated overseas — where it’s a hit,” Juris said.

In the U.K., the show drew an overnight audience of 906,000 in October and attracted a lot of media attention, the piece notes.

WE tv is part of the AMC Networks group, along with IFC and SundanceTV.
