An actress who starred in one of the top feature films of the 1980s will topline a new television drama project. Deadline.com reports that the TNT pilot “Proof" has cast Jennifer Beals as its lead.
The supernatural drama is executive produced by Kyra Sedgwick.
Beals starred in the 1983 blockbuster “Flashdance,” portraying a young woman who works as a welder but dreams of going to ballet school. The movie won an Oscar for best song.
Beals also starred in Showtime drama series “The L Word.”
In "Proof," she will portray Dr. Kathryn Russo, a brilliant surgeon who is struggling after losing her teenage son. Her character finds she’s having trouble communicating with her daughter, and starts investigating the question of what happens after death and whether there’s another realm beyond, the story notes.
