Uh-Oh: Fox Shuffles Drama Series to Friday Night

Fox has made the decision to move a drama series to Friday night — never an encouraging sign for a show struggling to find an audience.

The show is the new series “Rake,” starring Greg Kinnear. Writing on Deadline.com, Nellie Andreeva reports that the drama series “has faced the inevitable” after failing to draw viewers, and will be moved to Fridays starting next week.

The move comes after the show hit a new series low with a 0.8 average rating in adults 18-49 last week, the piece notes. The show has been airing on Thursdays.

Fox will instead air “Hell’s Kitchen” on Thursdays, bringing the reality competition to the 8 p.m. time slot and providing a lead-in for the “American Idol” results show.

“Rake” will replace “Kitchen Nightmares” on Fridays, with the latter show on hold to air later, the story notes. “Rake” will be followed by “Enlisted” and “Raising Hope.”

The legal drama “never connected with viewers. It got off to a soft start, logging a 1.7 in its Jan. 23 debut, and wasn’t helped by the fact that it had to face three weeks of Olympics coverage two weeks into its run,” Andreeva notes.
