As part of its extensive content deal with NBCUniversal, Amazon is airing the first season of Syfy’s alien drama “Defiance,” leading up to the show’s second-season premiere in June, The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports.
“That gives newcomers and existing fans a little more than two months to catch up on the 13-episode debut season before the series' season two premiere on June 19,” the story notes. Subscribers to Amazon’s Prime Instant Video can watch the program, which can also be viewed via Amazon’s Fire TV and through connected devices such as the Kindle Fire tablet and iPads.
The show is set in 2046, when Earth is home to both humans and aliens.
“‘Defiance’ was a big bet for NBCU when it premiered exactly one year ago on April 15 to 2.7 million viewers. NBCU simultaneously launched a massively multiplayer video game set in the same world as the series. The combined price tag for both projects was nearly $100 million,” the story notes.
