A cast member from the original "Star Wars" trilogy will reprise his role from those films in the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII." The Huffington Post reports that Peter Mayhew, who played Chewbacca, will play the character in the new project.

"Mayhew played the Wookiee in four 'Star Wars' films: 'Episode III,' 'Episode IV,' 'Episode V' and 'Episode VI,'" the story reports. "Mayhew, who turns 70 in May, has not been added to the official 'Star Wars: Episode VII' cast, which still currently numbers just one: R2D2. It's expected, however, that original stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will all appear in 'Episode VII,' along with newcomers such as Adam Driver (as the film's villain) and, perhaps, Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o."

Even without any official casting announcements yet, it was recently revealed that the new "Star Wars" movie is already filming. Commenting on the casting, Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn said on April 2: "We have a lot of them [in place]. We're just not completely done yet."

The movie is set to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
