Report: New MSNBC Show Already on the Chopping Block

The paint isn't even dry yet on a new MSNBC show and it reportedly is already looking at the possibility of cancellation. The New York Daily News reports that the low-rated "Ronan Farrow Daily" may not be on the cable channel much longer.

The show, hosted by the 28-year-old son of actress Mia Farrow, debuted in February. It drew an average of only 312,000 total viewers Wednesday, which isn’t a lot for someone aiming to be a national personality, the story notes.

MSNBC had hoped that Farrow, who graduated from college when he was 15, would bring his youthful fans to TV, but that hasn’t happened, the story says. Last Wednesday the show was 708th in the 18-49 age group, trailing “Golden Girls” on the Hallmark Channel, the story notes.

On Sunday, Farrow tweeted, “Waking up to another crushing day of not being Oprah.”

MSNBC said the report of Farrow’s possible cancellation isn’t true. “We’re happy with the debut of ‘Ronan Farrow Daily’ and the show's progress this first month. MSNBC will continue to support Ronan and his team as they develop and grow the program,” the network said in a statement.
