An Academy Award-winning actor has joined the cast of a new comedy project on TBS. Deadline.com reports that the comedy pilot “Your Family or Mine” added Richard Dreyfuss to the lineup.
Dreyfuss will play Ricky, the father of a character called Oliver, who is married to Kelli. The couple is “living proof of the adage 'When you marry someone, you don’t just marry them, you marry their whole family,’” the story reports. Each episode will focus on opposite sides of the family: one week with Oliver’s, the next with Kelli’s.
The role is the first series-regular job for Dreyfuss since he starred in “The Education of Max Bickford,” a 2001 CBS drama, although he has also appeared in arcs on Showtime’s “Weeds” and NBC’s “Parenthood,” the story notes.
Dreyfuss won an Oscar in 1978 for "The Goodbye Girl" and was also nominated in 1996, for "Mr. Holland's Opus."
