Rush Limbaugh Says CBS Has ‘Declared War on the Heartland of America’

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh has a beef with CBS, and he let his listeners hear all about it. EW.com's Inside TV reports that Limbaugh told his audience he's not a fan of the decision by CBS to hire Stephen Colbert to replace David Letterman on “Late Show."

“CBS just declared war on the heartland of America,” Limbaugh said. “No longer is comedy going to be a covert assault on traditional American values. Now it’s wide out in the open. What his hire means is that it’s a re-definition of what is funny and a re-definition of what is comedy. They’re blowing up the 11:30 format under the guise the world is changing. People don’t want the kind of comedy that Carson gave us, or even Leno. It’s the media planting the flag here. Media’s last stand. It’s a declaration.”

Colbert won’t be in character as the faux-conservative host he plays on Comedy Central, as previously reported. CBS Chief Executive Les Moonves has indicated that Colbert will appear as himself when he takes on his new job.
