The WWE star who is known by the stage name The Ultimate Warrior has died, according to The Hollywood Reporter. James Hellwig reportedly died Tuesday at 54.

The cause of his death wasn’t disclosed, although TMZ reports that he collapsed outside an Arizona hotel Tuesday evening while walking to his car with his wife.

He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

"WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior," the WWE said in a statement. "WWE sends its sincere condolences to Warrior’s family, friends and fans."

Hellwig became one of the WWE’s biggest stars after beginning his career there in 1987. He defeated Hulk Hogan in 1990, becoming WWE champion, THR notes.

The days leading up to his death were busy for Warrior. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on Saturday, appeared at WrestleMania XXX on Sunday, and appeared on “Monday Night Raw” — his first "Raw" appearance in 18 years — on Monday, the day before he died.
