Television icon Barbara Walters will give her archives — papers, photos and tapes from her journalism career — to her alma mater, Sarah Lawrence College, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Walters made the announcement Friday, when she made an unexpected appearance at the college’s commencement, the story notes. She told the graduates that she had benefited from attending “a college where I was not afraid to ask questions.”

In a statement, college President Karen Lawrence said the college is thrilled by Walters’ gift, the piece adds.
