An upcoming superhero series that lost its director earlier this year is back on track with a new exec producer and showrunner.
Deadline.com reports that the Marvel series “Daredevil,” which is set to debut on Netflix next year, has tapped “Spartacus” creator Steven S. DeKnight as its new executive producer/showrunner.
The 13-episode series was originally slated to have Drew Goddard as its writer, executive producer and director, but Goddard pulled out from his directing duties in March after he received a movie assignment from Sony, with “The Amazing Spider-Man” spinoff film “The Sinister Six.”
Goddard will remain as executive producer, and has written the first two episodes of “Daredevil,” the report notes. While DeKnight is under an overall deal at Starz, he was let out of the deal to work on the Netflix series, the piece adds.
The production team continues to search for a director for episode one.
