Lisa Cholodenko, the director of the upcoming HBO miniseries “Olive Kitteridge,” has been hired to direct the first two episodes of NBC’s “The Slap,” reports Deadline.com.
The project is an eight-episode miniseries based on an Australian series, a family drama that spools out from an incident in which a man slaps another family’s naughty child, the story notes.
“This seemingly minor domestic dispute pulls the family apart, begins to expose long-held secrets, and ignites a lawsuit that challenges the core American values of all who are pulled into it,” the piece adds.
The adaptation is written by Jon Robin Baitz, and comes from Universal TV and Matchbox Pictures, the Australian company that produced the original show.
