“The L Word” creator Ilene Chaiken has been hired as the executive producer and showrunner of Fox’s drama series “Empire,” Deadline.com reports.
The show is described as a soapy family drama set in the world of hip-hop. The project was written by “The Butler” team of Lee Daniels and Danny Strong, with Daniels directing. Chaiken will executive produce with Strong, Daniels, Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo, the piece adds.
The drama stars Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson and Gabourey Sidibe.
