"NBC is wrapping its first day of new series pickups with an order to another frontrunner, drama pilot 'Odyssey,' which already has backup scripts written and is ready to go," reported our good friend Nellie Andreeva at Deadline.com on Tuesday night, May 6, 2014.

The story adds that the pickup of "Odyssey" "brings the number of new NBC series picked up for next season to six: Russian spy thriller 'Allegiance,' CIA drama 'State of Affairs' starring Katherine Heigl, 'Odyssey' and the David Caspe comedy 'Marry Me,' ordered today, and previously picked up comedies 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' (formerly 'Tookan') and 'Mr. Robinson.'

About "Odyssey," Andreeva writes: "The 'Traffic'-like action drama … was written by Adam Armus and Nora Kay Foster and directed by Peter Horton. An international conspiracy explodes when three strangers’ lives unexpectedly collide — a female soldier, a corporate lawyer and a political activist."

About "Sate of Affairs" Andreeva says: "Each day the president is faced with hundreds of life-and-death decisions, and to prioritize the biggest international crises facing the country, one top CIA analyst — Charleston Tucker (Heigl) — assembles the president’s Daily Briefing."
