Paul McCartney has been hospitalized, with USA Today reporting that his tour dates in Japan and a planned concert in South Korea have been canceled.

The former Beatle was reportedly recovering in a hospital in Tokyo with a virus infection.

In a statement, McCartney spokeswoman Perri Cohen said: "Paul received successful medical treatment at a hospital in Tokyo. He will make a complete recovery and has been ordered to take a few days rest. Paul has been extremely moved by all the messages and well wishes he has received from fans all over the world."

USA Today adds: "His 'Out There' tour is scheduled to resume June 14 in Lubbock, Texas, with stops in Dallas, New Orleans, Atlanta, Chicago and Nashville, and wrap up Aug. 14 at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, the site of the Beatles' last official concert in 1966."
