Jonathan Ames and Electus Chairman Ben Silverman are involved in a Showtime project that will be an adaptation of an Icelandic dramedy. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that Ames (“Bored to Death”) is adapting “World’s End” for the pay-cable channel, with Silverman on board to executive produce.
The project is about a high school English teacher who is struggling with his life and his alienated students, when he’s institutionalized. He finds that he feels normal there, and leads an inmate rebellion, the story says. Ames will write and executive produce, along with Silverman and “Bored to Death” executive producer Stephanie Davis.
The project is the second for Ames in recent weeks, with his upcoming Starz series featuring Patrick Stewart called “Blunt Talk” also in the works.
