The star of HBO's “Sex and the City,” which ended its run in 2004 after six seasons, is plotting her return to television. Deadline.com reports that Sarah Jessica Parker is attached to star in a police crime thriller that has been optioned by Sidney Kimmel Entertainment.
The project is based on “Busted: A Tale of Corruption and Betrayal in the City of Brotherly Love,” a nonfiction book written by Wendy Ruderman and Barbara Laker. The material will serve as SKE’s first TV project with “True Detective” producers Anonymous Content, the piece adds.
“Published by Harper Collins in March, it chronicles their efforts to uncover one of the biggest police corruption scandals in Philadelphia’s history. The 2009 10-month series of articles in the Philadelphia Daily News entitled ‘Tainted Justice’ earned them a Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting,” the story says.
Parker is on board to star in one of the two main roles in the hourlong show, the piece adds.
