The family of the late singer Aaliyah has vowed to stop production on Lifetime’s upcoming movie about her life, reports TMZ.com.
Lifetime plans to start taping the project this summer, with Disney actress Zendaya cast in the lead role, as previously reported. Aaliyah died in 2001 in a plane crash.
The family is upset that no one from Lifetime contacted them about the movie, and plans to block Lifetime if it tries to use Aaliyah’s music. The family has hired an attorney and is also trying to block release of the biopic, the story adds.
Lifetime didn’t return a request for comment, TMZ notes.
