George R.R. Martin Has a Beef About ‘Game of Thrones’

Author George R.R. Martin, whose “Song of Ice and Fire” novels form the basis for HBO’s fantasy drama “Game of Thrones,” has a complaint about the show: He wants more episodes, reports The New York Times.

“I’d love to have 13 episodes. With 13 episodes, we could include smaller scenes that we had to cut, scenes that make the story deeper and richer,” Martin told the publication in an interview. Each of the four seasons filmed so far has consisted of 10 episodes.

The drama is reported to cost between $60 million and $70 million for one season, and Martin conceded that battles “are expensive” to film, the story notes.

Martin has a history in TV, having worked as a story editor for “The Twilight Zone” on CBS in 1986 and as a writer and producer for CBS’s “Beauty and the Beast” in the 1980s.
