In what the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker calls a “surprise move,” a late-night show has been canceled. The newspaper reports that CBS Television Distribution has canceled Arsenio Hall’s talk show.

The cancellation comes as “The Arsenio Hall Show” was slated to celebrate its one-year anniversary in three months, the story notes. The move also comes a few months after the series had been renewed for a second season, which makes the cancellation a surprise, the piece adds.

The show was created by CBS Television Distribution and Tribune Co. as an entry into the competitive late-night landscape.

"Unfortunately, 'The Arsenio Hall Show' will not return for a second season," CBS Television Distribution said in a statement. "While there are many loyal fans of the show, the series did not grow its audience enough to continue.”
