A Korean TV program described as a musical coming-of-age drama has an adaptation in the works for U.S. television. Deadline.com reports that Fox is developing a project based on the Korean series “Answer Me 1997."

The new show, which will be called “Answer Me 1999,” will be written by “Step Up 3D” writers Amy Andelson and Emily Meyer, and that movie's director, Jon M. Chu, will direct the pilot, the story says.

“Answer Me 1999” will go back in time between a group of friends as high school students in the late 1990s and the present time, the story notes. It’s the first scripted series for Chu, who has directed dance movies such as 2010's “Step Up 3D” and Justin Bieber’s 2011 concert movie “Never Say Never,” the piece adds.
