Two new broadcast networks that are set to roll out this summer have secured a major distribution agreement. Katz Broadcasting, which owns the new channels Escape and Grit, announced that the channels will be carried by Raycom Media.

The new channels are billed as the first-ever female-centric (Escape) and male-centric (Grit) over-the-air broadcast TV networks. Jeffrey Wolf, chief distribution officer for Escape and Grit, announced the agreement.

The deal gives both networks U.S. market penetration of 45% in advance of their launch this summer.

"Escape will target women 25-54 with a mix of theatrical motion pictures and off-network series anchored in stories of crime and mystery. Action-oriented Grit will reach men 25-54 and be built around the classic male hero archetype with a heavy focus on western, war and action theatrical motion pictures," the announcement notes.
