A contestant who appeared on the CBS reality show "Survivor" was killed Tuesday in a train derailment. People magazine reports that “Survivor: Blood vs. Water” contestant Caleb Bankston, who worked at the Alabama Warrior Railway in Birmingham, is dead at age 26.
Bankston competed last year on "Survivor," in which he participated with his fiancee.
“Caleb was an amazing man and friend," fellow contestant Aras Baskauskas told the publication. "One of the sweetest and most sincere humans I've ever come across. I am gutted by his loss. My thoughts and prayers are with his family."
Bankston is the third “Survivor” contestant to die since the show started, with two previous contestants — Jenn Lyon, from "Survivor: Palau," and BB Anderson, from the original "Survivor" — both dying after battling cancer.
