The "Twitter gaffe" bug has struck again, this time biting a well-known television and feature film actor.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that Jason Biggs, one of the regulars on Netflix's “Orange Is the New Black” and a veteran of the "American Pie" movies, was hit with a backlash after making a joke on Twitter about the Malaysia Airlines plane that was shot down Thursday over Ukraine.

Biggs wrote, “Anyone wanna buy my Malaysian Airlines frequent flier miles?” He followed up with a few more serious tweets, noting that the event was sad for the victims and their families. However, the story notes, “The damage had been done.”

“Users condemned his remarks and Biggs went on a bit of a Twitter rant defending himself,” the story reports. His comments included, “Hey all you ‘too soon’ assholes- it’s a f—ing joke. You don’t have to think it’s funny, or even be on my twitter page at all.”

He later apologized in a series of tweets, noting that he was also deleting his previous tweets. Netflix declined to comment, while the actor’s representative hadn’t responded to a request for comment, the piece notes.
