Comedian Joan Rivers walked out of a CNN interview after she apparently became angry with the interviewer, “CNN Newsroom” anchor Fredricka Whitfield, The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports.

Complaining that Whitfield’s line of questioning was “negative,” Rivers said, “This whole interview is becoming a defensive interview." She added, “You are not the one to interview a person who does humor, sorry,” and then walked off the set.

Whitfield later addressed speculation that Rivers’ behavior may have been a stunt.

“Off camera, [Rivers] kept her microphone on as she continued to talk and dropped some rather unflattering four-letter words," Whitfield said, adding: "She was serious."

Rivers, who was on the show to promote her new book “Diary of a Mad Diva,” later told THR in a statement, “I do not do, and never have done, PR ‘stunts.’”

She continued: “The CNN interviewer was a news reporter and not an entertainment reporter. She did not seem to understand we were talking about a comedy book and not the transcripts from the Nuremberg Trial. Every question was an accusatory one designed to put me on the defensive.”
