A man who said he was "looking for Katy Perry" was arrested Tuesday at the Kennedy compound in Barnstable, Mass., after he allegedly broke into the compound, E! News reports.

"Police responded to a call around 9:30 p.m. from Edward Kennedy Jr., who was in Connecticut when he phoned his home in Hyannis Port to check [on] his son — and an unknown individual answered," the story reports. "When officers arrived at the home, they observed an adult male sitting on the couch reading a book, who identified himself as James M. Lacroix, of Mashpee. According to officials, Lacroix, 53, told officers he was at the home to see Katy Perry and John F. Kennedy, adding that he had a gift to give the 'Fireworks' singer."

Officers said Lacroix may have been dealing with "longstanding psychological issues," according to the report. They reported that Lacroix told them he entered through an unlocked door.

"Kennedy's 16-year-old son was unharmed and not present at the home when police arrived, although he returned a few moments later," the story reports. "The 16-year-old told police he encountered the man when he arrived at home around 6:30 p.m., and in speaking with Lacroix, simply assumed he was a friend of one of the family members. The young man said the two had an 'extensive and interesting' conversation before he left to go to a friend's house."

Lacroix was reportedly wearing a Captain America T-shirt and camouflage shorts when officers arrived. He was arrested and taken to the Barnstable Police Station.

"He was booked and charged with breaking and entering and is currently being held for his arraignment at the Barnstable District Court [today]," the story reports. The article adds: "Perry has yet to comment on the scary incident. She is currently in Canada performing as part of her Prismatic World Tour and is scheduled to take the stage in Ottawa tonight."
