Which Broadcast Network Has the Weakest Fall Schedule? Media Buyers Single One Out

This fall may be especially tough for one broadcast network, according to a survey of media buyers and planners by Media Life.

The poll found that media buyers and planners see Fox has having the weakest schedule for fall among the big four broadcast networks, with 40% singling out the network as potentially having a tough time gaining traction with viewers. ABC was in second place, with 25% of media buyers and planners saying it has the weakest fall schedule.

Fox has only three returning shows that were solid performers last year, including “Sleepy Hollow.” It canceled programs including “The X Factor,” and has pushed “Glee” to its midseason schedule. Even shows that have drawn critical acclaim, such as “The Mindy Project,” aren’t big ratings pulls, the story notes.

Still, the survey found that many think “Gotham” could be a breakout hit for the network. Other new shows, meanwhile, including the reality show “Utopia,” are being greeting with some skepticism.
