FX today announced the renewal of a drama series. The Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker reports that the cable channel picked up “The Strain” for a second season, with the announcement coming midway through the show’s first season.
The second season will premiere in the summer of 2015 and air for 13 episodes. The drama, about a vampiric infection, stars Corey Stoll, David Bradley, Mia Maestro and Sean Astin.
The premiere drew 12.7 million viewers, making it the most-watched premiere in the network’s history. After adding in VOD and online viewing, the first season is averaging 11 million viewers per episode.
