One of the stars of the new Fox drama “Gotham” was injured during taping for the series. Deadline.com reports that Ben McKenzie, who plays Detective James Gordon on the show, was hurt Friday while taping a “fisticuffs scene.”

His head injury wasn’t due to flying fists, however, but a pillar, with McKenzie knocking his head against the concrete pillar, the story reports. McKenzie wrote on Instagram that he was treated at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and would return to work today, Monday.

“Gotham,” which is set to debut Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. on Fox, tracks the early days of Gordon, before he becomes the city’s commissioner and as he’s a detective working to solve the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne, Bruce Wayne’s parents.
