FX’s “Sons of Anarchy” started its seventh and final season with record viewership numbers. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the season premiere drew 9.25 million viewers, making the episode the most-watched in the series’ history and the most-watched program ever for the network.

About 6.1 million of those viewers fell into the 18-49 demographic segment, a 28 percent increase over the show’s recent season average. The ratings are for live-plus-three-day viewing.

“With seven seasons under its belt, ‘Sons of Anarchy’ is hardly spry by TV standards, but it continues to gain traction on its way out the door. Adding encore runs, and not even including the data that will become available from streaming app FXNow, the episode has already topped 10.6 million total viewers in less than a week,” the piece adds.
