TBS Orders Project From ‘Daily Show’ Correspondents

TBS is moving forward with a project from two correspondents for Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show.” The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the cable channel has ordered a pilot from Jason Jones and Samantha Bee.

The untitled comedy pilot will star Jones, while Bee will write the script.

“The project is inspired by their experiences on family getaways,” the story reports. “The comedy will follow a family as they take a road trip to Key West. Jones will play hopeful dad Nate, who hops in the car with his wife and two young kids for a 24-hour adventure to the Keys.”

If the project receives a series order, the idea would be to focus on a different family trip each season.

“As we continue to move TBS in new and exciting directions, we believe that comedies like this will truly resonate with our target audience of young adults,” said Brett Weitz, senior vice president for scripted development at TBS and TNT. “We’re thrilled to be working with Jason & Sam Bee, two of ‘The Daily Show’s’ breakout stars and two of the funniest writers in the business.”
