Shakeup at ‘The View’: Rosie O’Donnell Leaving the Show

Feb 9, 2015  •  Post A Comment

After two stints on the ABC daytime talk staple “The View,” Rosie O’Donnell is out the door, the New York Post’s Page Six reports.

The piece also reports that O’Donnell has split from her wife, Michelle Rounds. O’Donnell will reportedly exit “The View” at the end of this week to focus on family issues.

“Sources close to O’Donnell told us that she and Rounds, her wife of three years, have been living apart for months, and that O’Donnell feels she must leave the ABC daytime show to focus on her five kids,” the article reports.

The piece quotes Cindi Berger, O’Donnell’s rep, saying in a statement Friday night: “I can confirm that Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November. Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave ‘The View.’ Next week will be her last.”

Following her first departure from “The View” in 2007, O’Donnell began her second run on the show last fall. Within a few months, rumors of turmoil behind the scenes had some observers predicting an early departure for O’Donnell.

“But sources said the decision to leave was ‘very personal’ and because of the breakup,” the report notes.

To read a very detailed analysis as to the various reasons O’Donnell is leaving “The View” for a second-time, a number of publications claim to know. One of the more extensive piece is in Variety, which you can find if you click here.
