PBS has announced an all-star lineup — both in front of and behind the cameras — for its new Civil War drama. The casting announcement for “Mercy Street” includes Josh Radnor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Donna Murphy, AnnaSophia Robb, Gary Cole, Peter Gerety and Norbert Leo Butz, among others.

The six-part series, filmed on location in Virginia, is the first American drama to air on PBS in more than a decade, the announcement notes.

The series is executive produced by Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Lisa Q. Wolfinger and David Zabel. The show will be a part of PBS’a Sunday night drama lineup set for winter 2016 that will include the final season of “Downton Abbey” on “Masterpiece.”

“Mercy Street” follows the lives of two volunteer nurses on opposite sides of the Civil War — New England abolitionist Mary Phinney (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Confederate supporter Emma Green (Hannah James).
